In addition to coaching the Striders, Jeff led the Barrett Middle School girls team to take 2nd place in state in 2016. He was awarded Middle School Coach of the Year in 2013 and 2017. His coaching methods cover form, speed, and endurance to ensure his runners achieve their highest potential.
Coach Chris Thomas says, at first, running was a way to get into shape and to bond with his son. As a parent and coach, he learned that running is an amazing tool to teach kids the values of hard work, discipline, and perseverance. Chris’s approach is inspired by curriculum at a Coaching Clinic at the Smoky Mountain Running Camp in Asheville, NC. He learned the principles of hard/easy training that give coaches tools to individualize workouts - tying together pace, pulse, and perceived exertion. He is looking forward to another great season.
Coach Teesy Rogers joined the Striders Coaching Team in 2018. Her focus is on working with beginning and developing runners, offering alternate workouts specific to the needs of newer runners several times a week. Coach Teesy loves applying her passion for running to helping kids develop their love of the sport. Since creating the Lowe Cross Country team in 2012 she has acted as Head Coach and grown the team from zero to more than 100 runners. They finished 2nd in State three out of their six seasons, and Teesy was awarded Coach of the Year in 2016. Coach Teesy’s ultimate goal is that any child, regardless of skill, can grow to be a lifelong runner.
